Explore Das Bavarian

Tucked along Av. 5 de Mayo in the charming area of San Andrés Cholula, Das Bavarian offers a distinctive dining experience that brings a slice of Germany to Mexico. As someone introducing this spot, I’d describe it as a place where variety and authenticity meet-its menu features a wide range of German-inspired dishes that cater to different tastes, making it easy for both newcomers and fans of European cuisine to find something appealing.

One of the first things that stands out is the generous portion sizes. The dishes are not only flavorful but also satisfying, giving you a sense that you’re truly getting a hearty, traditional meal. The quality of the food is consistently praised, with rich flavors and well-prepared plates that reflect attention to detail in the kitchen. Whether you’re indulging in classic German fare or pairing your meal with imported beers, there’s a sense of indulgence that defines the experience.

The service also plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere. Staff members are known for being attentive and friendly, creating a welcoming environment that enhances the overall visit. It feels like the kind of place where you can relax, celebrate, or simply enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed.

That said, it’s worth noting that the pricing leans toward the higher side compared to other dining options in the area. However, many find that the combination of quality, portion size, and unique concept justifies the cost. The restaurant also offers a solid selection of beers, including well-known European brands, adding another layer to the dining experience for those who enjoy pairing food with drinks.

Das Bavarian carries a lively yet comfortable vibe, making it suitable for casual outings as well as special occasions, especially if you’re looking to explore something a little different from the usual local cuisine.

What a fun little find. Really enjoyed this spot. Pretzel: They're homemade which is great, but these aren't the true, Bavarian style ones with lots of chew. They're basically too small, too soft and too bready. They're good but, I prefer the real kind. Comes with honey mustard, which is also an unfortunate choice (German grainy mustard would be the better move). Still, enjoyed it. Sausages: They have a few options, we had the braut, and it was pretty good as well. The saurkraut feels jarred unfortunately, I'd love for them to make their own, this is too mild. Comes with a small roll which was decent. We will come back for a full meal. So far it's been okay, but it lacks the hallmark sharp, acidic German flavors, everything is a bit too sweet and mild. Beer selection is very modest (the online menu is extensive, but in reality, they only have a very small handful). What they do have is an excellent Paulaner heff, served in the correct glassware, and a couple other crafts, though almost nothing from Germany. Would love to see some Hacker Pschorr, Ayinger, etc... in a few more styles like a real beer hall. Service is very, very attentive. Maybe even a little too much because they kinda stand near your table watching and removing things the second they're finished. It's a little odd, but it's not bad. Extremely friendly. Would repeat.
